GRANT TO FUND PORTABLE ULTRASOUND MACHINE
Mary Washington Hospital Community Benefit Fund Awards Grant to the Rappahannock Area Health District

(Fredericksburg, Va.)Recently, the Mary Washington Hospital Community Benefit Fund awarded the Rappahannock Area Health District (RAHD) a $23,950 grant for the purchase of a portable ultrasound machine.

The portable ultrasound will assist the Health District in performing certain gynecological and prenatal procedures at the its offices, instead of requiring the patient to have a procedure done elsewhere. This will reduce stressand increase comfort and convenience for the patient; it will also remove the barrier of transportation and additional expense. The Health District plans to use the portable ultrasound for observing fetal presentation and intrauterine device location.

For more information about women’s health services offered by the Rappahannock Area Health District, visit http://www.vdh.virginia.gov/LHD/rappahan/ or call 540-899-4797. Please note that fees may apply for some services, and some fees may be scaled, based on income eligibility.
