Prevent Foodborne Disease

Warmer weather usually signals that it’s time to start enjoying foods cooked outdoors on the grill. It is important to cook meats and poultry thoroughly to lessen the risk of foodborne diseases. Using a food thermometer is the safest method to ensure proper cooking temperatures have been reached. Additional grilling safety tips may be viewed at the USDA’s website. Food safety information is available elsewhere on the Virginia Department of Health website.
