About Us

The Blue Ridge Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) was created to develop a team of health, medical, and general volunteers that can serve as a support resource in response to disasters and support public health initiatives in the Central Virginia Health District. Our MRC unit is comprised of volunteers from counties of Appomattox, Amherst, Campbell, Bedford, and cities of Bedford and Lynchburg.

The Virginia MRC program is housed under the Virginia Health Department. Differing from other VA MRC units, the Blue Ridge MRC unit is coordinated by Blue Ridge Emergency Medical Services Council (BREMS), while maintaining strong working relationships with the Central Virginia Health Department, Centra Health, and other partners.

By creating an organized, credentialed, and knowledgeable team that matches volunteers’ skills with our community’s needs, the Blue Ridge MRC can promote and educate public health and expand the capacity to respond to local emergencies in the Central Virginia Health District. This means we need additional dedicated and committed professionals like you to join and become an asset to the unit. There is no set number of hours you have to volunteer.
Our goal is to build communities of medical and non-medical volunteers who can assist with public health activities and disasters that may arise in our community.
