Past Boating Infrastructure Grant Projects

A Boating Infrastructure “Tier I” Grant was used to renovate the men and women’s restroom facilities.  This included new sanitary fixtures, shower fixtures, sinks, and a ceiling-heating unit.  The restrooms are compliant with the American’s with Disability Act. A sanitary waste pump-out system is also available for transient boaters.

Bluewater Marina used Boating Infrastructure “Tier I” Grant funds to relocate a gasoline pump to the fuel dock. Transient boaters seeking gasoline as their fuel source will now have safe access to the fuel dispenser. The fuel pumps have also been upgraded to increase the pump volume thereby decreasing the time it takes to dispense fuel. The marina is serviced by a sanitary waste pump-out system.

The Colonial Beach Yacht Center used Boating Infrastructure “Tier II” Grant funds to construct 723 linear feet of floating transient dockage. The floating dock was installed in two sections that allow for a more flexible tie-up configuration. The transient dockage is serviced by 16 new power pedestals, and an electrical transformer. The transient docks are handicap accessible and are serviced by a sanitary waste pump-out system.

Ingram Bay Marina used Boating Infrastructure “Tier I” Grant funds to install five transient slips, dinghy dock, safety stations and a washer/dryer closet. Grant funds were also used to replace the fuel sign and marina billboard. The marina is serviced by a sanitary waste pump-out system.

The City of Norfolk used Boating Infrastructure “Tier II” Grant funds to construct eight transient boat slips and a floating dinghy dock. The project also included the construction of a handicap accessible restroom facility with showers, icemaker, washer/dryer closet, power pedestals, and mobile sanitary waste pump-out system.

The Old Point Comfort Marina used Boating Infrastructure “Tier I” Grant funds to construct and install a dinghy dock. Mill Creek, which fronts the marina, is a well-known and protected moorage. The project also included constructing a deck to ease the transition between the floating dinghy dock, ramp and shore. The marina is serviced by a sanitary waste pump-out system.

The Town of Onancock use a Boating Infrastructure “Tier I” Grant to install heating and air conditioning in the marina restrooms and four transient slips. A sanitary waste pump-out system is also available for use by transient boaters

The County of York used Boating Infrastructure “Tier II” Grant funds to construct and install a floating transient pier and breakwater with a capacity of 16 linear mooring spaces. The transient pier is serviced by a transient boater restroom facility complete with sanitary fixtures, sinks, and showers. The restrooms are compliant with the American’s with Disability Act. Both restrooms have a ceiling-heating unit. This boating infrastructure project also includes nine mooring buoy’s and a sanitary waste pump-out system.

Regatta Point Yacht Club used Boating Infrastructure “Tier II” Grant funds to install new floating docks with full-length finger piers. Funds were also used to construct handicap accessible restrooms including showers, and a washer/dryer closet. The transient docking includes amenities such as new power pedestals, water, and electric. The marina is serviced by a sanitary waste pump-out system.

The Town of Chincoteague used a Boating Infrastructure “Tier II” Grant to develop the Robert N. Reed waterfront park providing eight floating transient slips; serviced by electricity, water, sanitary waste pump-out system, and safety equipment. A “Tier I” grant was used to upgrade the sanitary facilities and onsite sewage system. The restrooms are compliant with the American’s with Disability Act and include new shower facilities, sanitary fixtures, and sinks. WiFi service is available at the transient dockage.

The Tidewater Yacht Agency used Boating Infrastructure “Tier II” Grant funds to refurbish E-dock with additional pilings, supports, fenders and re-decking. Funds were also used to install 400-amp electrical service including electrical pedestals and diesel fuelling station. E-dock serves as a linear moorage for transient vessels 26’ and greater. New power pedestals, water, and satellite TV service the transient slips. A sanitary waste pump-out system is also available for use by transient boaters.

The Town of Urbanna used Boating Infrastructure “Tier II” Grant funds to construct 17 transient boat slips, bulkhead, pedestrian walkway, and install new power pedestals. The transient slips are serviced by water, telephone, sanitary waste pump-out system, and cable television. The Marina construction project included restroom facilities compliant with the Americans with Disability Act that includes shower facilities and a washer/dryer closet. A floating dinghy dock was installed to improve access for those transient boaters seeking to moor in Urbanna Creek.

Washington Sailing Center used Boating Infrastructure “Tier II” Grant funds to construct and install a floating wave attenuator that also serves as a docking platform. The wave attenuator protects the marina basin while accommodating 18 transient slips. A power pedestal services each slip. A security system has been installed to ensure the safety of transient boaters using the facility. Access to the floating wave attenuator and transient dock is via a handicap accessible ramp. A sanitary waste pump-out system is also available for use by transient boaters.

The York River Yacht Haven used a Boating Infrastructure “Tier II” Grant to install 780 lf of floating transient dockage in a flexible configuration allowing the ability to accommodate large yachts. Access to the transient dockage is via American’s with Disability Act compliant ramps. Water, new power pedestals, and media service the transient slips. A sanitary waste pump-out system is also available for use by transient boaters.
