§32.1-111.3 of the Code of Virginia requires the development of a comprehensive, coordinated, statewide EMS plan by the Virginia Department of Health’s Office of EMS (OEMS). The plan is to be reviewed and revised triennially with an opportunity for public comment.
The current draft of the Plan has been reviewed by OEMS staff, the committees of the state EMS Advisory Board, and the state EMS Advisory Board itself.
It is anticipated the EMS Plan will be approved by the state EMS Advisory Board in November, and presented to the Board of Health at their December 5, 2013 or early 2014 meeting for adoption.
The attached document provides additional information about the planning process. We encourage all Virginia EMS System stakeholders to review the plan, and provide comment via the attached form.
