Healthy Childbirth and Infancy

Every mother hopes for a safe delivery and a healthy baby.

We want that for you too. To reduce the risk of premature birth and complications, take care of your baby before it’s born. It’s a proven fact, that many birth complications can be prevented with early and sustained prenatal care. See a doctor or healthcare provider within the first three months of pregnancy, keep your appointments, eat proper nutrition, don’t smoke or drink alcohol, avoid stress and activities that could result in physical injury. Learn the warning signs of preterm labor.

If you’re pregnant and uninsured, contact the Richmond Public Health Department Clinic at 400 E. Cary Street by calling (804) 482-5500 for information about maternal and prenatal healthcare.
