Baby Care

The BabyCare Program is a registered nurse program for high risk prenatals (any age) and infants (birth to age 2, and in some cases up to 5 years of age). Nurse objectives include the following:

• Reduce the level of risk through prenatal education and compliance to healthy behaviors
• Promote behaviors to prevent a low birth weight baby
• Assist the mother in locating needed resources to maintain a healthy pregnancy
• Reduce the level of risk for the infant through parenting education and resource referral
• Serve as an advocate for the client to medical services as well as other resources that may be used

Referrals may be made to the Resource Mothers and BabyCare Programs by calling Roanoke City Health Department at (540) 983-1089.
