Death
Certificates
A death certificate is filed with the local health department
in the city or county in which the death occurred. Certified
copies of death certificates are available upon request
to those persons eligible to receive them. Certified copies
are $12 per copy. Cash, money orders, checks and credit cards (Master Card and Visa) are accepted.

Certificates
Certified copies of birth certificates for births that occur in the State of Virginia must be obtained
from the Virginia Department of Health, Office
of Vital Records and Health Statistics, in Richmond, VA.
