In September of 2015 a policy required drinking water sampling for Perfluorinated Compounds (PFC) on navy bases where fire-fighting foam was used. The EPA has no maximum contamination level (MCL) for PHC's however there is a Provisional Health Advisory (PHA). The Fentress Airfield used the foam in the 1960's to 1980's for fire-fighting training so sampling of the drinking water and groundwater was conducted in December 2015. The results indicated levels above the PHA in the drinking water and in certain groundwater monitoring wells so the Navy will be sampling off-base drinking wells in the Fentress area. For additional information about the Fentress Airfield drinking water testing go to www.cnic.navy.mil/FentressInfo.
