The Central Shenandoah Health District has a number of programs and services designed to protect the health and well being of families within the district. Our goal is to help protect your family's health.
Most services require an appointment, however, there are some services available on a walk-in basis, please call ahead to your local health department for more information or to make an appointment.
The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) offers nutrition and breastfeeding services and consultation through the local health department.

At the health department we offer immunizations for all ages. We give immunizations for school entry as well as vaccines for international travel. We also have flu, pneumonia and zoster vaccines available. Find out more by calling your local health department.
Our goal is to provide high quality, comprehensive maternity services to women who may experience barriers to prenatal care. Full service maternity care clinics with a nurse practitioner are available for qualifying mothers in our Staunton, Waynesboro and Lexington health departments. All of our other health department offices provide maternity care coordination.

Our STI clinics focus on testing and treating sexually transmitted infections. We also provide educational and preventative services.
All of these services are offered at all of our local health departments. Make an appointment by calling your local health department.
There is no cost to answer questions. When there is a cost for services, it will be according to you or your family’s ability to pay.
Family planning helps prevent unplanned pregnancy by assisting clients in finding a birth control method best suited to their needs and educating them on making good choices.
Family planning staff also provides counseling and education on a variety of health issues particular to the client’s needs. The clinic sees both males and females from beginning of puberty to about age 49.
Pregnancy test clinic
This clinic is designed as the point of entry for women who have not had a pregnancy test administered by a health professional. With a positive pregnancy test education is offered on the importance of folic acid, prenatal vitamins are issued, and referrals are made.
