VIIS will help a parent do the following:
- Make sure that my child doesn't miss any shots or get too many shots
- Assists in reminding me when my child needs shots
- Allows me to get a copy of my child’s shot record from the doctor or Virginia Department of Health
- Makes sure my child has all of the shots needed to start child care or school
- Allow me to switch providers or use different clinics for vaccines and have all the records consolidated into one
- Allow the emergency room physician to see immediately what shots have been given
- Helps identify my child if he/she received an immunization that the manufacturer recalls
