The Virginia Center for Onsite Wastewater Training (VCOWT) was established in 2005 as a collaboration between the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) and Southside Virginia Community College (SVCC). VCOWT currently operates from a classroom in the SVCC Occupational/Technical (Occ/Tech) Center located at 1041 W. 10th Street, Pickett Park (Ft. Pickett), in Blackstone.

Mission

VCOWT’s mission is to “Provide education and training to ensure effective onsite wastewater systems, maintain water quality, and protect public health”.

Training

VCOWT offers training throughout the year for VDH staff, onsite professionals in the private sector and the general public.  Each student completing a two-day course earns one college credit and 1.5 Continuing Education Units (CEU) through SVCC.
